The second tier of her container is where her Idiyappam or Spring Hoppers are kept. When she opened her food containers the spring hoppers looked fresh and pipping hot.
Shanthi is a mother of 3 almost grown children. She started her business in selling Indian delicacies almost 20 years ago. She got herself hooked to this business when she got married. This business is her husband’s family business. She used to watch her father in law doing this business and slowly learned the trait. Since her children were small then she was just helping out in the kitchen and the preparation.
After some years she started the mobile Putu Mayam business. She use to move around on a three wheeler with the help of her son Ishwar who was then waiting for his SPM results. After sometime she took business in her own hands and moved around on the motorbike while her son moved on to further his studies on computers… Today Shanti’s Putu Mayam is well known in Ipoh and she is handling the business single handed.
While doing this business she managed to see her daughter through Hotel Management and her youngest son Darshan is still in his primary studies (She used her youngest son’s name for the business) Darshan means “The Most Favored One”
